Grain Oriented Electrical Steel Transformer Laminations in China

We are a professional manufacturer of grain oriented electrical steel transformer laminations in China, supplying high-quality GOES laminations for global transformer applications. We offer a wide range of GOES material grades and thickness options, typically from 0.23 mm to 0.35 mm.

Transformers are the largest application of grain oriented electrical steel, where the core is built by stacking thin insulated laminations. This structure is designed to minimize eddy current losses and improve energy efficiency. Each lamination is insulated to prevent eddy currents that would otherwise generate heat and reduce performance.

Grain Oriented Electrical Steel Transformer Core Lamination We Manufactured

We manufacture a wide range of grain oriented electrical steel transformer laminations to meet different transformer designs and performance requirements.

Our products include EI transformer laminations (GOES), E & I transformer core laminations, step-lap transformer cores, custom GOES laminations, and toroidal transformer core laminations. We can supply both loose laminations and fully assembled transformer cores.

progressive stamping motor lamination

Stamping Transformer Laminations

For large-scale production, we provide progressive stamping and compound stamping. Stamping offers high efficiency, consistent quality, and cost-effective manufacturing using progressive dies.

Bonded Stacking (In-Die Bonding)Technology for GOES transformer Core

We have advanced in-die bonding technology using high-speed progressive dies, replacing traditional welding or riveting methods. During stamping, adhesive is automatically applied to bond laminations together, forming a bonded transformer core with high strength and rigidity. This process eliminates welding points, improves surface flatness, and enhances insulation between laminations.

As a result, adhesive laminations achieve a higher stacking factor, reduced vibration, and lower eddy current losses, ensuring better overall transformer performance.

FAQ – Grain Oriented Electrical Steel Transformer Laminations

The most common thickness for GOES transformer laminations ranges from 0.23 mm to 0.35 mm. Thinner materials (such as 0.23 mm) provide lower core loss and higher efficiency, while slightly thicker options (0.27–0.35 mm) offer better cost balance for standard applications.

A step-lap transformer core is a design where laminations are overlapped in steps rather than aligned in a straight line. This structure improves magnetic flux distribution, reduces flux leakage, and significantly lowers core loss and noise.

We can reduce the core loss by using high-grade GOES material, selecting thinner laminations, applying high-quality insulation coating. Also, we can optimize the core design (such as step-lap structure), and control burr height to avoid inter-laminar short circuits.

GOES laminations are typically coated with an insulation layer (such as C5 coating). This coating prevents electrical contact between laminations, reduces eddy current losses, and improves the overall efficiency and durability of the transformer core.
